✨ Everything is about to change

AI is moving FAST, and here's what that means for you...

In partnership with

This week was MASSIVE in the world of AI. It feels like we progressed 10 years in a week’s time with all the new developments.

Normally I skip the news and focus on the practical side, but there’s too much to unpack. I’ll also focus on the practical side and new use-cases that opens up—which is a lot.

Today:

  • The new ChatGPT that is leaving people speechless

  • Google’s new way of search (and a billion dollar opportunity)

  • New & Trending AI tools

Let’s get it.

One step closer to AGI

The mission of OpenAI (the makers of ChatGPT) is to achieve artificial general intelligence (AGI).

That basically means the AI will be so advanced it can do anything a human can do, intellectually (while being much smarter and not getting sick or tired).

Some serious competition for us.

Last Tuesday OpenAI shared their latest developments and it’s safe to say they made some significant progress in achieving AGI—it’s wild.

There is even some speculation AGI is already achieved internally. There’s also a bunch of important people leaving OpenAI that could be related to that narrative—but that’s another story.

Let’s take a look at what they announced and what new possibilities that unlocks for working smarter with AI.

A new model: GPT-4o

The new model, called GPT-4o (o for ‘omni’), can understand text, audio, image, and video(!). On top of that it’s also much faster and smarter than GPT-4.

They also announced the ChatGPT desktop app that you can install so it’s always by your side, which also unlocks some new use cases (we’ll get to that).

The most mind blowing part of the whole demo is that it now can understand video. This means it can look over your shoulder while you do something and give real-time assistance.

Check out this demo showing how ChatGPT functions as a tutor for math

As showcased in the video, it can also understand video when you share your screen and talk to it using your voice.

But you could also let ChatGPT ‘join’ your meeting and function as an extra set of ‘brains’ to chime in, provide a transcript of the meeting, and summarize it.

And it doesn’t stop there. Everyone can benefit from using this to become 2x/5x/10x more productive.

You could share your screen while working on data analysis, a presentation, an advertisement, a product roadmap, all while getting real-time feedback and asking questions to get unstuck quicker.

This is the stuff from sci-fi movies and it’s all happening right now. Wild times.

AAnd for my free-user friends: all free users will get access to this model. You can say goodbye to GPT 3.5 and do all the advanced stuff the paid users can do. The main benefit for paid users is that they get 4x more usage than free users

Paid users already have access to GPT4-o, but they have yet to roll out the new voice and video features. Free access to GPT4-o is also slowly rolling out over the coming weeks.

Next week I’ll share more practical examples as then we probably all have access to the same model.

p.s. check out OpenAI’s YouTube channel for more awesome demos (I love the ability to translate in real-time which will make traveling so much easier. And RIP to Duolingo’s stock).

Google changes the search game

Not only did OpenAI have a devday announcing new changes, but Google did as well.

I won’t cover it extensively, but let’s talk about the most important change: search. (You can find all updates here).

Google introduced a new way of searching (that is already rolling out) that can massively impact your business.

Your search queries will start looking like this:

Basically a whole page of AI generated content before it shows the regular search results.

But here’s the good news: Google will still highlight its sources, but there is definitely less inventory than before. If you rank #1 for a certain keyword it will not mean that you will be part of the AI-generated answer.

The billion dollar search opportunity

This can get your mind going about the new way you need to search.

Whether you are already crushing it at search (1.0) or you are about to get started, you need to adapt and figure out the new game.

It’s up for grabs and first come first serve.
